This self-exploration tour is suitable for adventurous travellers, who want to discover the Miri Resort City at their own pace. Just two-hours drive from Brunei; the Miri Resort City is the first oil town of Malaysia and also the gateway to northern Sarawak.
There were only few straggling huts by a black river before the discovery of oil. After oil was discovered in 1910, thereafter foreign labourers flocked in and the town boomed. Later, off-shore oil exploration started in the 60's and Lutong Town became the hub of oil production. Since, Miri has developed into a prosperous city. Miri comprises of a multi-cultural society made up of Malay, Chinese, Iban, Orang Ulu, Melanau, Bidayu, Penan and expatriates.

Your excursion starts with pick up from your hotel and goes on a scenic overland drive to Miri. You will be passing the town of Tutong, Seria Oiltown and Kuala Belait town before crossing the border at Sungai Tujuh Immigration post. The overland journey will take around two hours depending on the traffic conditions.
On arrival in Miri, you be given a brief orientation of the Miri town before being dropped off at one of the shopping malls to do some self exploring.
The rest of the day is at your own leisure to explore Miri on your own before being picked up at 5.00 pm from the place where we drop you off.
Overland transfer back to your hotel in Brunei.
