Established on 26 June 1975, the park covers an area of about 6,952 hectares. The park is famed for its global conservation values, extraordinary species and the rich forests.
The trail system in the national park is composed of primary, secondary and tertiary trails, which are well-marked and can be explored unguided. The Summit Trail is excellent for adventurous hikers.
The park is famous for its main pool with a sandy beach in the middle of the jungle. There are also a number of waterfalls along the trail to the main pool. It is a common nature escape among the locals, and is renowned for jungle trekking, bird watching or for enjoying a dip in the cool natural swimming pool.
