"Kian Jongsarat" was recorded in the history of Brunei as far back as the16th century by the Italian chronicle, Anotnia Pigafetta in his first round the world voyage in the Spanish ship Magellan.
The handicraft and tradition has been passed down from mother to daughter and until today, it is a significant cottage industry in Brunei. Traditional methods of weaving are still being practiced in the cottage industry.
"Jongsarat'", with exquisite designs were worn by royalty in the past but is now commonly worn during official state functions. It is also traditional material for wedding couples on their wedding day. Jongsarat is made into small gift items or decorative pieces to hang on the wall or wall coverings.

The tour starts with a pick-up from your hotel. It continues with a scenic drive to the countryside of Brunei, passing the Malay villages and local residential areas. During the local fruit season, you can see an abundance of fruit trees such as the rambutan, mango, jackfruit and many more in the villager's home yard.
Later, you will visit a local cottage industry, where you can witness the weaving process of the renowned "Jong Sarat"-traditional cloth woven with golden threads. The tour ends with a transfer back to the hotel.
