5 Days Brunei with Niah Caves Day Trip @ Radisson Brunei - Superior Room (5BNC-FIT03-12)
This unique Brunei tour is a mixture of nature and historical adventure. A river safari into the mangrove forest will introduced you to the rare endangered species primate known as Proboscis Monkey and a visit to Niah Caves National Park will take you back to 40,000 years ago when the caves was home to the Niah Man, the oldest human remains in South East Asia.
DAY 1
Our guide will meet and greet you upon arrival at Brunei International Airport. You will be transferred to Radisson Brunei Hotel for check-in. You are free for the day at your own leisure.
DAY 2 – HALF DAY CITY TOUR
The tour starts with a pick up from your hotel and a visit to Brunei Museum which houses collections of Brunei rich history, Islamic arts and crafts, ancient artefacts, precious ceramics and the history of Brunei oil industry. Proceed to the elegant Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque which was built in 1958. This prominent landmark is surrounded by a lagoon and a replica of a 16th century royal barge sits in the centre. The tour continues to the Royal Regalia which was built to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of His Majesty's accession to the throne in 1992. The exhibit includes the royal chariots used during his coronation and a collection of His Majesty’s life.
Proceed further to Sultan Asri Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque which symbolized the strong Islamic faith of the people of Brunei. Lastly a photo stop will be made at Istana Nurul Iman, the largest residential palace in the world with 1788 rooms. The palace is the official residence of His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei Darussalam. The tour ends with your transfer back to the hotel.
DAY 3 – NIAH CAVES NATIONAL PARK
The tour starts with a pick up from your hotel and continues with a two hours drive from Miri which is located in the Sarawak state of Malaysia. Upon arrival at the National Park, you need to register and the journey continues with a boat ride across Niah River. First stop is Niah Cave Museum which houses relics from the caves. Please take note that the museum is closed on Monday.
Continues with a 3km plank walk to the entrance of the cave through mixed forest to explore the Traders Cave, Painted Cave and the Great Cave. These caves has been declared as a national historical monuments. The remaining artefacts from these caves is kept at the park museum.
You will trek back to the park headquarters for lunch before proceeding back to Miri and continuing to Brunei. The tour ends with your drop-off at the hotel.
DAY 4 – PROBOSCIS MONKEY RIVER SAFARI
The tour starts with a pick up from your hotel and transfer to the jetty in the capital city to board the local wooden boat. You will be cruising along the Brunei River observing the villagers' life in the Water Village locally known as Kampung Air. This living heritage is home to 30,000 people and is the largest Malay water village in the world. On the other side of the river is the view of modern Brunei. As you cruise further up the river you will see the world's largest residential palace in the world with 1788 rooms. Istana Nurul Iman is the official residence of His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei.
Then into the mangrove forest where you will have the opportunity to encounter a variety of unique marine lives such as the mudskipper, river otters, white egrets, nigh herons, kingfishers. As the boat cruises along one of the tributaries, stops will be made to try and spot the rare endangered species primate known as the proboscis monkey. This odd looking monkey with large bright orange colored pendulous nose can only be found in Borneo Island and Sumatra in Indonesia. The monkeys normally come out with a family of 20 near the riverbank in the early morning and at dusk. The cruise ends at the jetty and you will be transferred back to your hotel.
DAY 5
Breakfast will be served at the hotel. You are free at your own leisure while waiting for your transfer out to the airport.
Participant Guidelines
Non-Muslims are prohibited from entering the mosque on Thursday and Friday.
Tour will cover only the garden area and the mosque compound.
For Niah Caves day trip, visa is required for some nationalities to enter Miri, Malaysia and for Brunei re-entry upon completion of this tour.
